Cawell in 1955....UT Men Post Wins in Key Biscayne

I stumbled across some interesting video of Austin in 1955, which includes some footage of Caswell Tennis Center when it was a clay court facility. Click on this link and forward to the 22:48 mark to see the footage (first click on the time bar, then click the play button).

The UT Men's tennis team is in action at the Key Biscayne Invitational this week, and they started strong, winning seven singles matches and four doubles matches. For more details, see Texassports.com.

ROLLLLLLLLLLLLL TIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE!!!! SEC rules College Football and Alabama rules the SEC. Transitively, Alabama rules College Football. Don't complain Longhorn fans, Texas had their chance 2 years ago, and only Scam Newton kept us from a threepeat!!! Roll Tide! We'll make it 3 out of 4 next year!

Lighten up Francis. This is a blog.

Well I am from Alabama and I love my Crimson Tide, and I did not put that comment, but I love it anyway. Juan, im sure you had a good time writing that, cuz i would never use a word like, transitively. LOL. I also never come out and put Swords said. J Swords

Damn John. I had a whole new respect for you since I thought you used the word transitively. Now I am DYING to know who on this blog is smart enough to use that word (rules out Juan). Please reveal yourself.

Kristi u can't rule Juan out. My life is simple and I am simple. I'm a a college grad and I'm smart enough. I never have to use big words to impress anyone. Sometimes people with a big vocabulary sit at home and play dungeons and dragons. kristi it was Juan cuz he has a very big vocabulary and he knows I'm a Bama fan. U really can't be a good lawyer like him without being smart and if I was to ever go to court I wouldn't want to go against him. He has a wit and he is very convincing. Juan is very bright so in regards to this Roll Tide Roll!!! Alabama Crimson Tide 2012 national champions!!! J Swords

ALABAMA's sensational and consummate performance should go in the record books as the best team ever in college football. The team is absolutely despotic.

Fourteen national championships.

Twenty-two ten game win streaks.
Fifty-eight post season bowl appearances.
Sixteen seasons with 10-0 start.
Thirty-three bowl victories.
Thirty-one ten win seasons.

All NCAA Division I records.

Alabama holds a winning record against every current and former SEC school.

I'll learn to work the saxaphone
I play just what I feel
Drink Scotch whiskey all night long
And die behind the wheel
They got a name for the winners in the world
And I want a name when I lose
They call Alabama the Crimson Tide
Call me Deacon Blues

No more college football comments please!!!! Let's talk about the potential finals showdown between Peter Markes and you John. What are you going to do differently to get the win this time? You have the skill to beat him, you know that. As for me, I'm taking my game to a whole new level this year--the basement, I mean the baseline. I'm such a wonderful volleyer that I realize my groundies are where I need to put in the work. Jason has convinced me that singles work will help my doubles game, so I'll be working to clean up my train wreck of a backhand the next couple of months.

John, you also made me realize that Juan is actually smart enough to use transitively. Nihilistic and machiavellian too.

Oh Kristi, you have one of the best forehands in the women's game, your backhand in open stance is nice, and you are learning the overhead. You are one of about four, maybe five 5.0 in Austin. My goal for you would be to gain confidence in your serve and overhead.

Mr sword's needs at least two weapons to beat Markus. I am struggling to come up with one.Peter has serve and tenacity.

Anonymous said...

YOU CAN DO IT, JOHN!!!!!!!

Mr. Markes will beat Mr. Swords handily, 6-2, 6-2.

But John does have a game to beat him. Here's how you beat Markes: With good chip returns, keep him away from net. Lob him at times because he sets up camp on top of the net. Relentlessly attack his weak backhand by hitting high and deep into the court. he will eventually break down and miss. Attack the center of the court when going to the net.

Kristi, you work on that baseline game with Jason and you are gonna more awesome than u are now, but you will move up to 5.5. I lost today to a 16 year old that was on fire. So the Peter match won't happen this time. I have played Peter 3 time prior, and lost 2 of the matches in 3 sets and a league match to him 6-4, 6-4. so 2-2 isnt gonna happen. Dont get me wrong Peter is a fine player, he has a lefty serve that is very hard to break if he is on. If he is off in which my case he hasn't so usally its a break in each set. And for the anon 12:00 has the right game plan against Peter, except the prediction on how bad I would lose. LOL. First tourny of the year and getting the kinks out. Tough holidays for tennis, so I am happy the way I played for not hitting for the last 2 months. Better luck next time. J Swords
